Lipscomb University and Nissan Engineering and Robotics Camps

For every kid who just can’t resist dismantling the toaster, the Lipscomb University/Nissan BisonBot Robotic Summer Camps will be the highlight of their summer. All camps will be held in the new Hughes Center engineering facility on the Lipscomb campus.

Applications are due by February 28, 2017. Those who have been selected will be notified by April 15, 2017. 
 

Junior BisonBots Camp (1st Session)
Designed for students' first exposure to a robotics experience

Ages: 8-11 (completed 2nd grade)
Cost: $300 (snacks included)
Dates: July 18 - 21, 2017 
Time: 8 am – 12:00 noon
 
This four-day camp introduces campers age 8-11 to basic mechanics, electricity, and robotics concepts through a variety of in-class and studio-based exercises. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, a variety of activities are used to introduce the children to concepts such as electrons and current flow, simple DC circuits, motors, axles, and wheels, and the application of these concepts to robotics. The week culminates in a show-and-tell session for friends and parents where campers explain what they've learned throughout the week and demonstrate various projects they've created.

Academic Scholarships and Financial Aid

Regardless of the selected camp, all applicants will be considered for academic scholarships. Camp applications must be accompanied by at least one letter of recommendation (non-relative) and a copy of the student’s most recently completed semester grades in math and science. Additionally, financial aid will be available to qualified students (to be considered for financial aid, additional materials are required—see the application for details). No before- or after-camp care will be available. Early application is strongly encouraged as acceptances are granted to qualified applicants on a first-come, first-served basis, and camps fill quickly.
